Suggested Gear:

Pack enough food for 2 dinners, 2-3 lunches, and 2 breakfasts (minus any meals at restaurants). Go for low effort, minimal cleanup options. Minimize food that spoils easily. Maximize food that doesn’t need refrigeration.

Easy to prepare meal ideas include:

  • Grilled pre-marinated kebobs
  • Burgers & hot dogs
  • Grilled corn on the cob - soak in salt water and grill in husks
  • Sandwich meat and cheeses
  • Smores, of course (refrigerated chocolate bars, graham crackers, marshmallows) - roast marshmallows and make a sandwich with chocolate and crackers
  • Bagels toasted over the fire, with cream cheese
  • Instant oatmeal - or soup, noodles, etc
  • Coffeecake

Supplies to bring (pack light – you’ll need to cart this across sand):

  • Drinks
    • Coffee, sugar/sweetener, nondairy creamer
    • Juice
    • Water for drinking and washing (plastic bottles and large tote to fill)
    • Canned sodas and beer
    • Wine (boxed is better)
    • Favorite spirits
    • Ice (can buy some there, if needed)
  • Food
    • Meal ingredients
    • Packaged or bottled snacks (chips, nuts, crackers, cheese, olives, etc)
    • Cookies (chocolate chip will melt)
    • Smores ingredients
    • Whole fruit
    • Cut up veggies
    • Bread, buns, bagels
  • Condiments
    • Salt, pepper, favorite spices
    • Mustard, ketchup, etc
  • Kitchen gear
    • Propane stove/grill
    • Extra propane
    • Lighter, lighter fluid
    • Aluminum and plastic wrap
    • Spatula, spoon, knife
    • Large pot
    • Percolating coffee pot
    • Frying pan
    • Paper plates/bowls/cups/napkins
    • Plastic silverware
    • Dish soap, scrub pad, towels
    • Paper towels
    • Trash bags
  • Campsite gear
    • Tent, tarp (a small tent is great for keep supplies cool and protected)
    • Sleeping bags, pads, pillows (don’t forget the air pump for air mattresses)
    • Lanterns (propane or battery)
    • Flashlights (recommend wind-up ones – no batteries and very bright)
    • Foldable chairs, table, umbrella
    • Citronella candles
    • First aid kit (there will be lifeguards with gear, but bring for small stuff)
    • Toilet paper
    • Bug spray
    • Beach towels
  • For fun:
    • Summer reading
    • Binoculars
    • Camera
    • Cards/cribbage
    • Gloves/bat/softball
    • Frisbee
    • Basketball (there is a court)
    • Volleyball (4 nets – no waiting!)
